Don't Miss It: Parent Like Every Week Counts

(3 reviews)

Parents have approximately 936 weeks from the time their child is born until he or she graduates from high school.

It goes by fast. The responsibility to shape a child’s faith and character can seem overwhelming.

If you are a parent, you have probably realized by now that you can’t make a toddler share. Can’t force a child to have faith. Can’t compel a teenager to make smart decisions.

But there is something parents can do. They can make this week count. And then do it again, and again.

In Don’t Miss It, authors Reggie Joiner and Kristen Ivy help parents discover that what they understand about their kids now has the potential to change their kids’ future. If parents don’t miss what’s happening during this phase of their kids’ lives, then maybe kids won’t miss some important things they need to know about life. That’s why what parents do this week matters.

It’s just a phase. And none of us wants to miss it.

“If you are a parent, don’t miss reading this book. It will change how you see the potential of your kids forever. It could also change how you parent this week.” JON ACUFF

Love, LOVED this book. In less than 30 minutes, it puts it all into perspective. Even better, it's short enough that you can skim it again over a cup of coffee any time you need a refresher. Seriously, this one packs a powerful punch in a little package.

Wish I'd had this book when my kids were little. It's full of practical ways to make every week you spend with your child count, as the authors stress that "every week matters." Time is short, and so is the book. It's a great reminder to be intentional as you seek to build character and faith in your child "through small, consistent deposits." I intend to pass this book on to all the parents of the preschoolers I teach in Sunday School.

I cannot tell you how SIMPLE yet PROFOUND this little, easy-to-read book has been in pointing my two sons (1 year old and 3 years old) to Jesus. Many say that the days are long and the years are short, and that is exactly what this book unpacks! I love it when Reggie and Kristen write "We get so preoccupied with what we can measure that we don't give attention to what we can't measure." Shaping our kids faith is a lifelong process, but when we decide to take hold of every week God has given us, it transforms how we do that! Let's decide now to start looking at each week as an opportunity to point our kids to Christ.
